Privacy Policy

Fieldbook ("we", "us", "our") operates the browser-based HAM radio logging application at app.fieldbook.cc and this site at fieldbook.cc. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have over it.

Information we collect

• Account information — your email address and authentication details, managed by our identity provider (Amazon Cognito).
• Logbook content — the contacts (QSOs), logbooks, notes and files you create or import, including callsigns, frequencies, timestamps and locations.
• Optional QRZ.com credentials — if you connect your own QRZ.com account for callsign lookups, we store the API access needed to make those lookups on your behalf. Your QRZ password is encrypted at rest and never stored in plain text.
• Payment information — if you subscribe to Fieldbook Pro, billing is handled entirely by our payment processor, Paddle. We never see or store your full card details.
• Technical logs and usage data — basic request and error logs (via AWS), plus product analytics and error tracking (via PostHog) used to understand how Fieldbook is used and keep it running securely. Where you're signed in, this is linked via a unique account ID, not identifying personal information like your email. You can turn it off at any time from Settings.

How we use your information

• To store and sync your logbooks across your devices.
• To power lookups — callsign details (via QRZ.com), DXCC/CTY entities, and POTA park data — and attach them to your contacts.
• To manage your subscription and billing, via Paddle.
• To keep the service secure and prevent misuse.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your logbook content to train AI models.

Service providers

We rely on a small number of trusted providers to run Fieldbook:

• Amazon Web Services — hosting, authentication, file storage and our API, primarily in the UK (London) region.
• PlanetScale — our Postgres database provider.
• PostHog — product analytics and error tracking, EU-hosted.
• Paddle — payment processing for Pro subscriptions.
• QRZ.com — optional third-party callsign lookup, only when enabled.
• Cloudflare — DNS for our domains.

Where your data is stored

Our primary infrastructure runs in AWS's London (eu-west-2) region. Some of our service providers, such as Paddle and QRZ.com, may process data outside the UK or European Economic Area. By using Fieldbook, you consent to this international processing.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete individual contacts or logbooks at any time from within the app. To delete your account and all associated data entirely, use the option in Settings or email us at hello@jackcoble.dev.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal information — this isn't limited by jurisdiction. You can export your logbooks as ADIF at any time from within the app. For anything else, contact us at hello@jackcoble.dev.

Age requirement

Fieldbook is intended for use by individuals aged 16 or over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone younger than that.

Security

We use encryption in transit (HTTPS) for all traffic, and rely on our providers' managed authentication and access controls to keep your data isolated and secure. Third-party credentials you provide us, such as a connected QRZ.com password, are encrypted at rest using AWS KMS with AES-256 encryption.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
