Welcome to Fieldbook

30th August 2026 · Jack Coble

Hi everyone,

Welcome to Fieldbook! This is a project I've created since gaining my foundation level HAM license a few months ago. I'm a software developer by day, so it felt fitting to make something I would enjoy using, whilst learning a lot about radio in the process!

I made Fieldbook because logging must feel quick modern. I've worked my way through quite a few apps where the logging process doesn't feel intuitive, and if I want cloud syncing, I have to pay an additional cost (understandably).

A big thing I wanted for this project was for the whole logging process to work offline - anything from creating a logbook, all the way through to the logging process itself. I also wanted peace of mind knowing that my contacts aren't at the mercy of my device! If I'm out in the field the last thing I'd want is to lose my contacts if I damaged or lost my phone. That is why cloud syncing is built in from the get-go. If you've got an internet connection, contacts will be synced immediately. If not, then Fieldbook will sync everything up the next chance it can.

Fieldbook does offer a paid subscription plan for access to more premium features, but the core functionality, such as cloud sync, offline logging and automatic QRZ lookup, is free for everyone. Cost should never be a barrier to getting on the air and enjoying the hobby!

Fieldbook runs in your browser, so it's not a typical app like from the app store. It can be installed to your devices though in the form of a Progressive Web App to give it more of a native feel.

What's available now?

Over the past few months I have been working hard on these features:

  • Support for multiple logbooks.
  • Pre-defined logbook templates - "generic" and POTA.
  • ADIF import/export.
  • Operator information pulled live from QRZ as you log.
  • Merging logbooks.
  • Bulk editing of contacts.
  • Trash - for when you accidentially delete a contact.
  • Widgets - embeddable information to show off on QRZ, etc.
  • Dashboard - view all of your contact statistics!
  • QSO map - visual representation of all your contacts.
  • Utilities - work out your maidenhead locator, check band conditions and POTA spots.
  • Backup - don't fully trust the cloud, or want to leave Fieldbook? Easily have the ability to download a copy of all your logbooks in ADIF format.
  • Cloud sync.

What's next

It is still early days for Fieldbook, but I am very happy with the feature set for now! My time spent for now will be fixing any bugs that may pop up! If you do find any, please get in contact with me directly and I'll try and get them resolved as quick as possible! You can email me at hello@jackcoble.dev.

If you do have any requests though, I would love to hear them. You can request something that should be worked on next, and it'll go through a moderation and voting phase.
